A safe mosquito traps involves an empty, uncapped 2-liter plastic soda bottle. Cut just below the point where the neck of the bottle straightens out onto the body of the bottle to create a cylinder and a funnel. Fit the funnel snugly into the cylinder. Fill about 1/3 of the cylinder with a mixture of 1 tablespoon of dry yeast, 1/3 cup of honey (or sugar) and warm water. Wrap a piece of black paper around this to make a nice warm comfy place for mosquitoes to hide. The trap works by creating carbon dioxide with the honey (or sugar) and yeast mixture. The escaping gas makes the mosquitoes fly into the trap, get stuck on the sweet-coated sides and wear themselves out trying to find an exit. Change the mixture about every two weeks or so.
