Or, science is how you investigate a subject matter, not the subject matter itself. Anything can be a science if you approach it scientifically. None of the current TV shows about ghost hunting, however, appear to be very scientific with their approach.
You have to remember that a ghost is simply the disembodied spirit of a person. Therefore a ghost can make any sound a person is capable of e.g howling, moaning, wailing, talking, screaming, crying, sighing, etc. In stories, especially childrens stories, the traditional sound/word would be "Boooo".
