Open iChat. Click iChat at the top of your screen. Click Preferences. Click on the 'accounts' picture. I think it automatically goes to alerts, it should be three to the left of it. Under the big white box, there should be a plus and minus sign, click the plus. Make your new account (:
open ichat. click 'ichat' and then 'preferences' then click 'accounts' there should be a + sign, click that to make a new account
well ichat is like aim (first you would need to make an account) then you would enter your account in the space provided. Then your on your way you agree to the users agreement and then you open ichat and enjoy!
I think you have to make a new iChat, you can't just change your name. I'm not positive though.

iChat uses the AIM network so a Windows user with an AIM account (See links below) will be able to contact a Mac user with iChat.
Apple does not make iChat for iPad. But if you have an iPad 2 or newer, you can use FaceTime which is very similar to iChat.
iChat uses other programs (like AIM, Google, or Yahoo) to chat. So, the first thing you need to do is make one of those accounts. Next, you need to add that account to iChat. Click on the iChat button up at the top and select preferences. This will pull up another window. Select accounts, and hit the plus button next to the minus button (you would use the minus button to remove an account). After this, you should be pretty much ready to go. Make sure your account corresponds to the type of account your friend has (i.e. Google, AIM, Yahoo). To add friends, or buddies, click on the buddies button, and select add buddies.
There is no Windows version of iChat yet but if the Windows user is using an AIM account then you can connect to the Mac iChat user if they are logged into iChat via an AIM account. Otherwise iChat will not work. You can also connect both users via a free online video/chat application similar to Skype, it's a very useful free video/chat application that cross's both Windows and Macs well.
To communicate between a PC with a webcam and Macs using iChat you will need to get a free AIM name. You can then configure your AIM account to connect with iChat sessions. (See links below)

iChat is not an available feature on the iPod Touch. There is facetime for the new iPod Touch (fourth generation), but iChat is strictly for Mac laptops and desktops.
Skype and iChat both provide video conferencing but they use different networks so you cannot make a Skype call with the iChat software. (See links below)
