Depending on the version you have you could also do this:
- 1997-2003 Microsoft Office:
- go to "Menu Bar -> View -> Toolbars -> Drawing Toolbar" to make the toolbar show up. Then click the AutoShapes Icon and draw a line. Double click the line or right click and choose "Format Object" to get color, position, size, and thickness options.
- 2007-2010 Microsoft Office:
- On the top of the window go to "Insert -> Shapes -> Lines -> Line" and draw a line. Right click on the line and choose "Format Shape." It should default you to the "Line Style" tab where you can change thickness etc.
