I make Video Games using DAZ studio, Unity, and Hexagon. There are tons of other programs out there too. The basic things your program(s) need to do is animate, render, and model, and then you need a program to actually put it all together in. DAZ studio renders and animates, Hexagon models, and unity is what you put it all together in and make the game. Hope this helps! Also, forgot to mention that both DAZ and unity are free, and Hexagon is $150, which is relatively cheap for video game design programs.
