Rent an Empire Gown from a fancy Dress shop. now to stop at the used clothes or war-surplus shop- for a ( class B-clandestine) Trench Coat ( Russians wore Grey in World war I for camouflage reasons, Black for the NKVD.) and do get a nice Russian hat. Jackboots are apt apparel for weather-adapted Russians of all stripes. Okay you have the Dress, the Trench Coat, Russian hat, and boots, jewelry- well you are on your own.Red and gold trim on the epaulets of the trench coat would be a neat, Imperial Russian Armed forces touch. ( in the field or in spy operations, these were naturally taken off- just the black or grey shoulder straps.) Some good ideas Comrade- also gloves and maybe a Muff ( for the hands) would make a Russki Touch. Nastrobia!

∙ 14y agoA good idea for an older Girl would be to rent an appropriate Empire Gown for the party dress, and for outerwear- a trench coat like she wore in the movie- Field Grey would be appropriate for Czarist Army and police- Black is permissable for the NKVD. Naturally a full-round Russian hat is needed to top the picture. boots= and it is possible to get real KGB issue from some surplus houses- are also a part of the costume. Red and Gold national epaulets on the Trench coat are optional, as agents in the field took them off as they were too gaudy ( okay for parades and reviews, use your own judgement, Comrade! and Good Luck.
