Ingredients
1 pound loaf of Italian bread
1/2 stick butter, softened
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
3 to 4 medium-sized garlic cloves, crushed
1 teaspoon dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
Directions
Get several bagettes or long bread rolls. Cut them at intervals of about an inch, but do not cut all the way through. For the garlic butter, you can either buy tubs of it premade or you can mix crushed garlic with warmed butter (not melted) at about 8-10 cloves per pound of butter to your own taste. Spread the butter fairly heavily into the cuts in the bread. Roll individually in a small sheet of aluminum foil and bake at about 300oF/190oC for 20 minutes.
For the bread, fresh garlic comes in handy. When the bread comes off the grill, rub it with the edge of a clove. The warmth of the bread almost melts the garlic and the bread becomes wrapped up in flavor. Top with your favorite seafood or chicken salad for a great treat!

Garlic bread i s usually just a normal wheat bread, which has had garlic added to it. Either into the dough, or as a butter/garlic paste spread on the finished bread.

I have a bottle of Tastefully Simple Garlic Garlic Seasoning. My bottle lists the ingredients as garlic, onion, chives, parsley and spices. I really wanted to use some of the seasoning to make garlic bread, but I am not sure how much to use per one stick of butter. If anyone has made garlic bread with this seasoning, please let me know how much you used. I want it to taste like garlic bread, but not be too overwhelming with a garlic flavor. Thanks!

Parsley takes away the garlic breath you can get after eating garlic. Parsley adds nothing to garlic bread, except decoration. The green 'bits' on the traditional garlic bread, ARE parsley. So parsley does nothing to change the taste/flavour.
