simple. first take about a tablespoon of your seed mixture and soak them in half filled bowl of lukewarm water for about 2 to 3 days and you will have spouts.the unfresh seeds wont sprout, keep that in mind. before giving your birds the sprouts, check for the ones with bad odor. throw those out. give your birds the sprouts in the morning for best freshness. remember that at first they might not eat them, but give your birds a chance to familiarize with them. after 2 to 3 hours, remove the sprouts and throw them away. try giving your birds sprouts about once a month, but always make fresh ones every month! for more info on parakeets get the book "The Essential Parakeet"
You have to try to copy mama bird, so what you do is get some raw hamburger, add some egg yolk to it. Mix that and then roll it in bone meal. The next thing you have to do is when the baby bird stretches it neck and opens it's mouth is to stuff a bit of your hamburger mixture down his/her beak. Don't use too much because you could choke the bird, just a bit. Do this until the small amount you have made is done and do this several times a day. Make sure you keep the baby warm too and out of drafts.
