Read the sentence out loud. If it has a comma, ignore for now the part that does not make a complete thought. Try to find the noun and the verb FIRST in the section that is a complete thought.

Look at the word(s) after the verb for the object. The object may be in a longer object phrase.
Look for adjectives and adverbs.
Work through the clauses last. Re-read your textbook that explains clauses. Do one piece at a time.
