Select a hardwood branch the right size and shape, sharpen the end - not too narrow or tapered. Soak just the end/tip in water for several hours minimum and then slowly dry over a fire - do not burn the wood, just let the heat dry it out thoroughly. Stop before the wood turns very dark/black. This will harden the wood and help to penetrate.

First you need to be able to chip the rock until it forms a flat point, and then it also needs a groove or merely a chipped shallowing in the centre where the shaft will lie. the wooden shaft should then be split apart at the end, but bound behind the split to stop it from spreading, then insert the rock spearhead into the gap in the shaft end and bind it further around the overlap, using leather, sinew, or just string.

The rest is trial and error really

find a straight piece of wood and sharpen the end. A plane (tool) and a craftknife would probably help.

also it won't work so well unless it's REALLY straight.
