I have a similar problem, the latch isn't releasing. The only way I have found to open the hood is to have one person to pull the lever and another pull up on the hood. That should release it. (to fix it, you will need to replace the latch and the cable- it's a bit expensive) Hope this helps
Get someone to hold the hood release lever while you pull up on the hood.
The easiest way to open up your hood is to have someone pull the hood release lever for you. While they are pulling on the lever, you can then pull up on the hood.
Go under the dash board on the drivers side of the vehicle, behind it you will see the cable which is connected to the hood release handle. Grab a set of pliers, and grip the cable, (by the exposed part of the cable if possible) then pull it towards you, or put tension on the cable until the hood latch releases. The hood should open right up.
how to get a 2001 isuzu trooper hood open if release cable is broken

The easy way to open the hood manually on a 1998 Chevy Cavalier, when the cable is not working is to put the car on a hoist and use a long pole to trip the hood latch. Then lower the vehicle and open the hood the rest of the way. Replace or repair the cable for the hood latch before closing the hood.
it took me forever to figer out but i have a 96 rodeo manual and the e brake has to be up and if it don't work id check the fuse panels
Rock got stuck under the hood in the latch release.
You can't unless it has a remote trunk popper on the unlock remote. I had the same problem and went to an Isuzu dealer for a new key and remote.
It is really easy. First take off the tailgate and the glass lift hatch. Then you are done.
If the cable is broke you can crawl under and manually release the hood. It isn't too bad, the area is open and visible from under the car.
