The hood release lever is located under the drivers side dash. you need to reach up under the dash, (or just look under there) and pull the red handle to release the hood. then there will be a little arm that pops out of the front of the grill, just pull that platic arm straight out and pull the hood open.
Open the door with your key and pull the hood release.
hood release is pulled from the inside of the vehicle near the front of the door opening by your feet. then look for a pull tab under the MB star on the front grill.
