You should show your parents that you really want it and that you're really capable of doing it, because its not always easy. Tell them about all advantages you could have:
• its great for your CV such as the language you'll learn
•it'll open more doors and a wider horizon for your future
•you'll meet new people, cultures and the way of solving your own problems.
• you get much more independent by solving your own issues, having to take care of yourself and just having the experience of life and how it is
• you'll know what really matters in life and what you should take for granted
You should also mention forget the negative sides of it and that you're aware of them. Don't let go of your dream. If you really want it chase it dont let it go! I promise you after all the effort you've done after you have made it. It really becomes worth it.

While the exchange student may be quite capable of looking after him or her self, an accident or illness can occur at any time. Mothers, being mothers always know what to do when a child needs help. Whether the exchange student just needs some bed rest and a bowl of chicken soup or they have to go to the hospital, the host parents should be able to provide the right care and advice. The longer the exchange student is around the better the chance that a close relationship will flourish. Soon, the student may become almost like a member of the family. When the time comes to go, the relationship does not suddenly end. The parents, family and exchange student may create a life-long bond and keep in touch for many years to come.
