No Plaster of Paris is too soft and too porous to be useful in any thing to do with a swimming pool.
The water becomes aggressive and can etch the plaster and metal parts of the pool and equipment.
First you have to determine if is in fact a painted pool. If it is a plaster pool then usually there is no paint unless it was painted because of age and damaged plaster. You most likely do not want to paint a plaster pool - have it acid washed to clean plaster. Not sure how to determine what type paint. You would have to have the paint chips anaylized to determine if it is a chlorinated base paint or epoxy paint. Ken

You don't need to tile a pool, if you use a good waterproof concrete render and paint it using proper swimming pool paint. (don't use emulsion)
FOLLOW THE BUILDERS RECOMMENDATIONS!!! The pool plaster has to cure with the least amount of variations of the water. Heating the pool prematurely can cause the plaster to delaminate. Swimming too soon can lead to dimples and foot prints in the plaster that will always collect sand and dust and will always look dirty. Not a good idea. k
Probably yes. You are going to have to get a pool tech to inspect the plaster to deterine if the pool needs to be acidwashed. Just draining and refilling may not be the total answer. 500 whoa
