How do you play multiplayer online in call of duty modern warfare?

It really depends on the gametype you are playing on

-->Team Deathmatch--> Is Simply a Standard game type where there are two teams and there is a timer or score limit that must be reached

-->Domination--> Domination is a capture the flag type game where the is Bases A, B and C. The objective is to dominate all three bases and reach a score limit which is usually 200

-->Search & Destroy--> Is like Elimination where every 3 (depending on server) rounds you swap positions from Defence to Attack.

The aim for Defence is to Guard the Bomb from the Attackers who need to plant the bomb or you could simply eliminate the other team.

However, the defence could not win by killing the other team completely if the bomb is planted so you must defuse the bomb. (it isn't as complicated as it may sound)

-->Free-For-All--> Simply a every-man-for-themself game type

W - Forwards

S - Backwards

A - Strafe Left

D - Strafe Right

E - Lean right

Q - Lean left

Space - Jump/Stand up from crouched/prone

Left Shift - Sprint

Left Ctrl - Go Prone

C - Crouch

2 - Switch between primary/secondary weapon

4 - Throw special grenade (smoke/flash/stun)

5 - Equip special weapon (Bazooka/Claymore)

6 - Call in aerial support (UAV/Airstrike/Helicopter)

G/Middle mouse - Throw frag grenade

T - Chat to all

Y - Chat to team

V - Melee attack (knife)

N - Nightvision

Left Mouse - Fire

Right Mouse - Aim (Iron sights/scope)

R - Reload equipped weapon

If you are playing on a PS3 your PS3 must be connected to the internet. It can either be connected by a wire or a wireless router but that is another question entirely.

Once you are connected to the internet and have a PS3 network account, turn on your Modern Warefare 2 game and go into the Multiplayer section. Click on the first thing on the top which says "Play Online" (or something like that). Choose what game type you would like to play in, ex. team deathmatch, free for all, ground war, ect.

At the main menu you select multiplayer and then select play online. If its not letting you because of internet you either need to plug in an ethernet cable or connect to your wireless internet.
