Hello
I am in the same boat as you. Don't buy any rugs, saddle, saddle cloth/numnah, or head collar and bridle as you don't know what the horse will be coming with and the sizes. You need to know where the horse will be kept and whether it will be OK in a stable or kept out, You also need to find out if it gets on with other horses and can be hacked alone or in company. When my friend got her first horse she was a lovely connemara mare called blaze and she came with some of the most oldest tack ever but luckily her parents could find a place that re-built saddles.
I hope this helps

There is no real way to prepare land for a horse. First thing if to build a fence to hold the animal. The type of edible grass for the horse depends on the area. Most areas have yard type grass and you can suppliment the grass with a 2nd or 3rd cutting of hay.If you want to go the do it yourself route you should do the following to prepare the land.Till well the land the horse will be onGet a mixture of clover, alfalfa, timothy, spread it evenly over ground, give 1 year to establish itsself then add horse.
