dialysis is used as artificial replacement for people with kidney failure... my uncle had dialysis and it is my understanding that it is used to clean and filter the blood of things such as waste of cells and urine output because the kidneys can no longer provide this function. also, it helps regulate urine output to keep the bodys fluids balanced
