you need some ground cover, either plants or something like bark or pebles. it stops sunlight which the weeds need to germinate. of course this does not prevent all weeds you will have to do some weeding only significantly less.

Mulch with a 15cm thick layer of organic material such as sugar cane trash, pea straw, cereal straw, shredded paper, pine bark or a good open compost (or a mixture of all or some of the above:) ).

Alternatively a commercial "mulch mat" may be used with a thinner layer of organic mulch over it.

In both cases don't mulch closer than 5cm to the stems or trunks of your plants.

There are many ways to prevent weeds including weed fungicide, weed cover (a light tarp kind of thing that goes over the ground) or if you already have the weeds then you just can pull them.

Is there a way to keep weeds from growing in garden beds?

You can buy sprays like Round-Up, you can use material like mulch or stones to control weeds. However, in reality, if you are interested in controlling weeds, you are just going to have to do the hand work of pulling them as they appear.

Does Clinic Ace keep weeds under control around newly planted native hedges?

Yes, Clinic Ace can keep weeds under control around newly planted native hedges. The herbicide in question may be applied seven days before the hedges are planted. It tends to be applied post-planting when woody plants are at least two years old even though cultivators also tend to avoid using the glyphosate-active weed killer around hedge rows.

How do you grow hydrangeas in Queensland?

It is very easy to grow hydrangeas in Queensland. They virtually grow wherever they are planted. Out west, they will need more water, and it is still important to keep them watered well in coastal areas during dry seasons.
