open the trunk and there is a small plug behind the carpeting on the drivers side of the inside of the trunk...you need to turn the ignition on and then cross the two pins inside of the connector with a paper clip or something metal...while keeping the twho crossed you then need to click a button on each remote u want programmed, the locks will cycle each time one is programmed...after you are done programming just remove the paper clip and turn off ignition and the pods should then be programmed
These models (1996 and 1997 I know about) do not have keyless entries when they come of the production line. If one does, it is dealer installed. The box can be found under the instrument panel, somewhere behind the parking brake pedal.
To program a remote keyless entry on 1996 Chevrolet pickup, first hold down the power unlock button of the door panel. Second, turn ignition key ON, OFF, ON, OFF. Then release power unlock button on the door panel.
Try: http://www.programyourremote.com/ It has instructions for 1997-2000 models, perhaps they'll work with the 1996 model. Good luck!
To program a keyless remote for a 1996 Impala SS, first, sit inside the vehicle and close all doors. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine, then turn it back to "Off." Repeat this process quickly (within 5 seconds) for a total of three times, ending in the "On" position. After this, the locks should cycle, indicating the vehicle is in programming mode; press the lock button on the remote to program it, and the locks will cycle again if successful.
keyless systems don't require you to put the key in the ignition, you can leave it in your pocket and hit the start button
You have to go to the dealership to have your keyless remote reprogrammed. They have a scan tool to tell the computer that you are using a new key fob. I just did it to my 1997 sebring. I knew the service manager, so he let me borrow it, it took me about 15 minutes, most will do it for a small fee, some will do it as a courtesy.
Can you put a 1994 thunderbird motor in a 1996 thunderbird?
The dealers scan tool is required.
Pass. side rear, behind shoulder strap of seatbelt
Sadly this is gonna require a visit to the dealer. Plan on spending $40 or so to get this done. Every Jeep from 1996 or so onward will need a dealer program to get keyless working.
Go to this website http://www.carandtruckremotes.com/ and you can buy an original factory remote at a better price than dealership.
To resynchronize the remote press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons for about 8-10 seconds. If you do it right, the horn will chirp and the lights will flash once. You have to be in range of the car.
