You don't. Period.
Unless you are stripping it down for a track-only race car, it would be much cheaper to just buy a v-8 camaro to begin with.
The entire fuel and electrical systems are completely different between the v6 and v8 models, not to mention some healthy differences in the cooling systems. You would also have to replace the engine computer, as well as the front springs due to the weight difference.
I'm not sure, but there seems to be a difference in the body floor shape as well to allow for the various exhaust systems.
How do I know this? I have owned an '85 v6, a '83 Z-28, a '91 Z-28, and a '98 v6. I have personally maintained and repaired all of the above, and some of the repairs have been major.
Even among the v-8 camaros there are incompatible differences. For example, the regular v8 and RS camaros were compatible, but the Z-28's had their own drive train that was compatible only with the IROC and not the other two.
And, of course, there is the SS. This beast literally has a corvette engine stuffed in. Not compatible with ANY other model camaro.
There are probably other differences that I haven't covered. You can verify this yourself if you can get a hold of a service manual and compare the v8 and v6 systems.
So save your money, and find yourself an RS or Z-28 in good shape. You will be much happier and less poor in the long run.
NO it will not.
They made both V6's & V8's? Check your vin #. What kinda silly question is this?
the transmission used in the v6 is the same as the transsmission in the V8 and they can be swapped either way. as in you can match the v8 with a v6 tranny or a v6 with a v8 tranny the bellhousing lines up the same
In 1994 there was no SS Camaro. The Z28 had a 5.7 liter V8. The base Camaro had a V6.
An RS camaro came stock with a v6 but came had the option of a v8, turns out most RS's were v8's
Yes you will need V8 motor mounts.
The 1995 Z28 camaro has a v8 engine in it. That engine is a ctually a steel version of the corvette engine. Since there are 1995 camaros with v8 engines in them, you can probably fit a v8 into your car.
Yes
Yes.
Well the 1992 RS automatic is like 170 HP. I had a V6 Swapped out for a V8 on my camaro, I don't know how much it was. My car was a 1983 Camaro with 107HP V6, replaced it with a 1992 RS V8 170HP.
There is a v6 and a v8 model
Yes
