I guess it depends on the model but I have a Whirlpool Atlantis and the fabric softener goes in the container located on top of the agitator in the middle of the drum. It is removeable for cleaning so yours may be missing, or it was never put in.
It is designed to dispense when the machine is spinning in the rinse mode.
If you add a cap full of fabric softener concentrate, add a cap full of water too.
You shouldn't; fabric softener will gum up the bleach dispenser. Also, bleach is added near the beginning of the wash cycle, while fabric softener is added to the rinse water, not the wash water.
It will tell you on the back of the bottle, usually it is in the final rinse cycle. It is kinda tricky using fabric softener, if you pour it directly on your clothes or even don't mix it with the water good enough first it will leave greasy looking spots on your clothes. I stop my washer right before the final rinse, take my clothes out, let the fabric softener and water mix really good then add my clothes back in.
Detergent washes the items you put into the washing machine. Fabric softener removes the static electricity from the clothes so they don't stick together. It usually adds a scent to the clothing as well.
Open the detergent dispenser drawer located on the top left side of the washer. Add the appropriate amount of detergent for your load size in the designated compartment. Close the dispenser drawer and start the washing cycle.

The simple answer is yes, you can wash microfiber is the washing machine. Be sure that the only thing in the washer is microfiber items. If you put cottons in the machine with the microfiber it leaves cotton beads on the microfiber. It's also important to not use fabric softener (in either the washer or dryer) as the chemicals get absorbed into the microfiber material.

All you have to do is put it in a pillow case and tie the pillow case shut and put it on gentle cycle with no fabric softener.
If you need to hide it good. Put it in a few ziplock bags in a sock, with a fabric softener sheet and sprayed with air freshener.
I wash mine in the washer on gentle cycle with just a tiny bit of detergent and add fabric softener to the rinse, then put it in the dryer until it's dry. I only use cotton or polyester batting. This will pre-shrink the cotton. I've never had any problem with the batting separating during this process.
1.)Mix water and flour then shake 2.)You can put white fabric softener in the bottle 3.)Mix sunscreen and water
