I have an 08 Sierra. I have taken off the dash sections to the left of the speedometer cluster and the panel covering the radio/HVAC area. The correct method for doing this is to remove the plastic panels at your knees (I'm not sure what that's actually called) and then pry off the dash panels. Now, I have taken off both the panels just by prying them off with my fingers and then working them off from behind those knee panels. This is not the right way to do it, but it works and saves you the time of having to remove those lower panels. I have an 08 Sierra. unfortunately from what i have been trying to do for the longest time, is the same thing, disable the AFM on my 08 gmc sierra 5.3L and have found no easy way to disable it without a tune from a shop. I have a performance exhaust and a air-intake system and programmer from edge but still have to have it taken to a professional shop to have it tuned so the AFM will not work keeping it in V8 at all time. Note - this is from what I've researched. I'm getting ready to buy an '08 Tahoe and I have the same question. From what I understand, it's very simple. There is a plug that runs underneath the driver's seat, and you simply unplug that cable at the connector. The guy had an '07 Tahoe and he said it stopped the seatbelt chime. Or ask the dealer for seatbelt extenders and leave the extenders plugged in. That's what I did in my 07 Sierra. Dealer ship gave me the extenders free when I bought the truck. Probably because I looked like I needed them.
