"I dont know but am looking for an answer myself, so far I know for sure theres a couple of 10 mil bolts on the back of the assembly and from what i gather i think you have to take off the front bumper but i dont know....need more help."
I didn't read the date on this, but it's a top Google result so here it goes:
Yes, you have to remove the bumper. There are about 6 screws (Running along the engine bay near the radiator), 4 bolts (Easy to spot! One in each front corner of the bay and one in each corner under the bumper. You don't have to jack the car and it's extra easy if you have a swivel on your socket.), and 2 clips (You'll see these wanting to un-clip after the two bolts in the bay are removed) holding it on. There are 2-4 more bolts on each lamp's mount that you must remove also. (Obviously you must also remove the bulbs from the lamps as well. I think it's common knowledge, but just in case; never touch the bulbs themselves or the oil from your skin will ruin them!) Should only take an hour at most your first time from start to finish.

Remove the wiring connector from the back of your headlight assembly. Take hold of the light bulb, push in and turn at the same time to remove. Reverse the process to install the new light bulb.
To change the headlight assembly on a 1997 Ford F-150, first, open the hood and remove the retaining screws or bolts securing the headlight assembly. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the assembly and carefully pull the old assembly out. Align the new headlight assembly in place, reconnect the wiring harness, and secure it with the screws or bolts. Finally, close the hood and test the headlights to ensure they are functioning properly.

The complete headlight bucket assembly comes out so you can replace the bulbs easily. Open the hood, stand in front of said headlight, notice two locking tabs sticking up behind the headlight bucket, with a little effort pull up and wiggle each tab out, now wiggle the entire headlight assembly out in the open, twist and remove headlight socket in question, reverse proceedure to install.

You may need to remove the screws or clips securing the assembly to access the park signal lamp. Once the assembly is free, twist the socket counterclockwise to remove the bulb. Carefully pull the bulb out of the socket to replace it if needed.
Remove the tire and wheel. Remove the brake assembly and rotor. Remove the axle end cap. The rear hub assembly will come off.

In order to answer your question I will need the year of the car. 97
