Vacuuming large debris through skimmer without using a leaf trap.

A leaf trap has a bag inside for catching debris and is placed between the end of your pool vacuum hose and the skimmer. It keeps leaves from clogging your skimmer line when you vacuum.

It's OK to not to use a leaf trap as long as you are vacuuming small things that can't clog the skimmer line, but never go without it when sucking out acorns, sticks, large quantities of leaves, etc. This can lead to a service call to unclog the skimmer line.

You either wait and they will clear in time, if the chlorine is reasonably strong. or try to put a litle dry clorine in a sock and hold it directly on the stain. if that doesn't work try the same thing using dry acid.

Algae are very slimy and will not get out just by ordinary washing. The slimy coat on top actually protects the algae from reaction to the chemical composition that is used to clean the pool. To make sure the algae does not stick around even after chemical treatment of your pool, scrub the algae to break the slime and expose it to chemical reaction. By doing this, you will expose the algae to react with the chemical treatment when you eventually shock the pool.

Prepare to vacuum your pool and turn valve to waste. You will have alot more suction power and you won't plug up your filter basket. Con - you will be sucking the water and leaves out of pool so don't waste anytime. Hope this helps.

The best way to clean a pool with dried out leaves on the bottom is to fill the pool about an inch deep and allow enough time for the leaves to loosen up. Once the leaves are floating loose, take a wet and dry vacuum and suck out the leaves and water together.

Sand filter pool system and an overabundance of algae?

The swimming pool filter and pump will help to keep the water aerated and will filter many of the contaminants out of the Algae are the food for bugs that can live in your pool. If you have an algae problem you may also have bugs. Ideally you need to stop the chain by providing clear and clean water that is free from contaminants. Make sure that your filter and pump are functioning properly and that they are properly sized for your pool. Make certain that the filter is cleaned or changed on a regular basis. A dirty filter won't do much in keeping your pool clean. Skim and vacuum your pool on a daily basis. Leaves and other debris that fall into the pool will decay and become food for algae.
