i have a 74 p/u. i think yours is the same. the way to remove the switch on mine is to pull the knob all the way out ( switch the headlights on.) Then reach to the back of the switch and push a little thingie with a spring up, then pull the knob out of the switch. Now I think yours is the same as mine & I have a 1970 C10 and on mine what you have to do is pull the knob out like you are turning on your lights then rotate the knob until you see the little screw on the knob it self, loosen up that screw and the knob is off. Then to take the switch off the dash, loosen up the little dash knob bezel then take your dash off then there is another nut you have to take off before you can take the head light switch out.
