The air conditioner/compressor sits on the front passenger side on top of the fender. Remove the water reservoir and then you can disconnect and remove the air compressor. I do not know yet how to remove the air dryer as I cannot see how to remove the air lines from the dryer.
I did remove the dryer from the compressor though, by removing a single screw then turning the 1/4 turn and pulling it out of the compressor....so at worst I will be able to put my new compressor in with the old dryer.

Sound like you are low on Freon causing the compressor to cycle on and off. If you are low of Freon then you have a leak somewhere.

You should typically pay between $400 and $600 to replace the compressor on a 2003 Lincoln Navigator. Where the repairs are completed and the type of compressor play a large part in the actual cost.

not so much an answr but direction. I believe it is the same as the 2003 so look at the answer for the 2003 expedition.
walmart, get a can of r-134-a airconditioner refrigerant, cause on your compressor, you have a low end pressure valve that you hook the tube from the can up to and it charges the air conditioner on the vehicle
The oil is in the freon along w/leak detector.
you will almost always have to replace them.
