Depends upon whats broken - if it's cables that's straightforward enough:

On level ground, chock the front wheels in front AND behind. Release the hand brake.

Remove the centre console retaining screws then lift and partially rotate the console (bit of a faff but it can be done) to expose the handbrake tensioner.

Raise the rear of the car and support on axle stands, having first removed the wheel nut covers and loosened the wheel nuts. Remove the rear wheels. Now you have access to the underside of the car raise the car up as high as your axle stands will allow. NEVER EVER rely on a jack. Check the front wheel chocks

Remove the handbrake cable nipples on both sides of the car, and from inside the car, undo the tensioner nut until the tensioner is free and the cables can be pulled out from underneath the car. Keep all your nuts and associated bits and pieces safe.

Depending upon the model there may be one, two or even three cable securing points along the route of the cable, Apply a liberal dose of release oil such as WD 40 before attempting to remove the bolts. Use the correct size socket and go slowly, as if these shear you will need a stud extractor to get the bolt out!

Once all the bolts are undone, feed the new cable in alongside the old to make sure you clear the suspension arms, drop links etc, then remove the old cable and install the new by replacing the securing bolts, the nipples in the calipers either side of the car than finally the tensioner.

With the car still off the ground, refit the rear wheels and adjust the tensioner until the wheels are stopped from rotating at FOUR notches on the handbrake. Remember to balance the cables by applying and releasing the handbrake several times between each adjustment. Make sure the wheels freely rotate when the handbrake is released.

Lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque. Replace the centre console. Refit the wheel nut caps.

It MAY be necessary to reset the BCM - if so just disconnect the battery for twenty minutes, remembering to depress the brake pedal a few times to discharge any residual charge in the circuitry.

Hope this helps
