The 1991 Geo speedometer cable is held in place with a swivel nut on each end of the cable. Turn the swivel nut to the left to remove the speedometer cable. Reverse the process to install the new speedometer cable.
The speedometer is cable driven.
Back in 1991 I THINK that they still used a mechanical cable from the transmission to the speedometer. Only later did they change to electronic readout, but I'm not sure what year. It sounds like the speedo cable needs to be lubricated, possibly replaced.
A 1991 dodge dynasty speedometer bouncing could be a sticking speedometer cable, or a bad drive gear. Check the cable first, and lubricate it to see if the problem stops.
Yes , I BELIEVE the last year for a speedometer cable on a Ford Explorer was the 1995 model year so the 1991 Ford Ranger would definitely have a speedometer cable
Sounds like the speedo cable may have snapped www.mr2-ben.co.uk Toyota mr2 mk2 New & Used parts
The cable is manual drive on a 1991.It plugs directly in the back of the speedometer.
It does not have a cable... It is electronic controlled. It has a sensor that is bolted in the drivers side of the transmission TAIL SHAFT that controlls the speedometer among other things.
If it has a mechanical speedo, take the negative battery cable loose first then take the spedo housing loose from the speedo first then pull the cable out of the housing. Then take the housing loose at the bottom and remove the part of the cable that is twisted off. Get a new cable and install it with lots of cable lubricant. Then hook up the botton end then the top end of the housing. Hook up the neg battery cable
I've bee told that the 1991 model doesn't have a cable it works off the speed sensor.
Broken cable?
Im not sure if your vehicle has a speedometer cable or if its a digital type thing with all wires and an electric motor opperating your SpeedOMeter but if it is a cable driven one, then just disconnect the cable from the speedometer from inside the vehicle... raise the vehicle if needed, I think its easier to get it from top, if the vehicle has the A413 transmission, remove the 10mm bolt holding the Speed Sensor in because the SpeedOMeter cable is running threw the middle if it, it does have a round O Gasket on it so it will be tight removing it, but it will come out with alittle wiggle and install the new the same way as you took it off.
