u have to remove the air filter box and the engine mount to replace the belt....
To change the alternator belt on a Mazda 323, first remove the right hand air shield under the can. Then locate the pulley tensioner of the AC and loosen the bolts on the pulley. Finally, remove the alternator pivot bolt under the alternator to remove the old alternator belt and replace with a new one.
REmove Upper rad support and rad fans and air box. Remove bolts from alternator and remove serp belt. REmove alternator though gap left by fans and air box.
You can replace the front bearing on 2003 Citroen Relay using air tools.
In some cars. one belt drives both the alternator and the air conditioning. In other cars, each has its own belt. Depends on the car. The alternator belt runs whenever the engine is running, the AC belt turns, but is only running under load when the AC compressor is turned on to get cold air.
In the 2002, there is an idler beneath the alternator. When it's loosened, the belt relaxes and can be removed. I don't know if it's different in an '04. I had the radiator, air conditioner condensor, and oil cooler out to replace the alternator. I don't know if you can reach the idler without removing these things. I also do not know how easy/difficult it is to rethread the belt since it doesn't just run the alternator.
A drive belt will go around the pulley on the alternator . If you have a serpentine belt it will drive all the accessories attached to the engine . Alternator , power steering pump , air conditioning compressor etc .
A/C Belt Power steering belt. Alternator belt Air pump belt.
First you have to disconnect the power from the battery. Then you remove the belt, and all electrical connections. Then you take out the bolts holding it on the brackets and bring it out from under the car. - Disconnect Battery - Remove Air filter intake components. - Remove fuel hose to carb (maybe) - Remove 12mm upper alternator mount bolt - Dissconnect 10mm Alternator positive connection. - Dissconnect Alternator connector plug. - Remove 2*12mm lower alternator mount bolts. - Remove 2*10mm lower alternator shield bolts. - Remove 2*14mm exhaust pipe to manifold bolts. -Wiggle the old alternator out and the new in...trust, it works IF YOU INTENDED TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR BELT... - Slacken the underside 10mm main belt tension pulley to allow alternator belt R&R.
The belt you have to first remove is the power steering pump belt. Loosen the clamp bolt, then the adjusting screw on the power steering pump until the belt is slack enough to remove from the pulleys. If you have air conditioning, you will also need to remove that belt too, by the same method on the A/C compressor. You can now loosen the clamp bolt (12 mm) from the alternator as well as the retaining bolt (14 mm) on the alternator. Once loosen, swing the alternator towards the engine block and remove the belt from the pulleys. Cheers Malcolm
No, the timing belt ( or chain on some engines ) drives the cam shaft (s). The serpentine belt drives the alternator, air conditioning, power steering, etc.No, the timing belt ( or chain on some engines ) drives the cam shaft (s).
