The brake light bulb on a Jaguar X-Type is replaced by opening the trunk and unscrewing the rear cover. The wiring harness can then be disconnected, the bulb removed, and a new bulb put in its place.
Remove rear light unit cover in trunk. Turn bulb holder fastener 90 degrees counter clockwise and remove. Replace faulty bulb.
lift the boot, and grab a screw driver and unscrew the light and then at the back of the light twist the bulb out and replace and twist it back in afterwards.

the box containing all the bulbs is in the boot,one at each side,pull out old bulb and replace.
On the back of the light when u lift the hood you'll see a rubber boot on the back, reach inside the boot and release the metal latch holding the bulb in place. Good Luck

Remove the strap across the back of the light in the boot. Then unscrew the bolt at the top (with hands as it has a moulded plastic piece on). then unclip the board with the lights on and replace the broken bulb. The bulb uses a bayonet style fixing.
