The door light switch for these cars is in the door latch. It is not visible by opening the door and examining the latch. If the switch is not functioning you will have to replace the latch. I have heard of cases when doors are slammed too hard that the wire connector comes loose.
Perhaps someone has tried to pry the door open. You may need to realign or replace the sensor switch.

The door switch on a 2002 Honda Civic is found inside the door panel. Remove all the mounting screws and gently pull the panel off. Find the door switch and unscrew it from the mounting bracket. Unplug and replace the switch.
Replace the switch ! It is really not that expensive and it will fix the problem !! If it works from the drivers door replace the switch on the door that doesn't work ! If it works at that door replace the drivers switch ! KM
To replace the switch, no you don't have to remove the door panel. There should be 2 screws holding it in, both right on the switch mount.

The Drivers Door Module or Passenger Door Module on a 2003 suburban is also known as the "window / door lock" switch. These modules are located on each respective door, i.e. driver side door or passenger side door. It is the module that has the door lock/unlock switch and window up/down switch. Hope this helps...
