How to get motorcycle grips off

I have used a compressed air hose to break the seal on the grips or have used a heat gun on low heat to soften the rubber to get them loose. Never use wd40 or silicone type products. Those will stay on the bars and may cause the grips to come off when you dont want them to! Hope this helps. Greatly depends on the bars used. I have used this on dirt bikes with great results.

Easy way is to use a utility knife make a split along top side and peel off the old grip.

The Throttle side is easy there are 2 button head Allen screws on the bottom of the switch housing. There are also the same screws on the left switch housing, once removed it will allow you room to insert a screwdriver into the top side of the glued on grip and spray something like Carb & Choke Cleaner into the top side to help break up the glue and there by slide the grip off.

Hi.. Normally a small tipped blow gun is used to force compressed air under the inboard side of the grip rubber. This will expand the rubber grip off the handlebar so it can be pulled off quickly. Wear eye protection please. But most grips have a proper location and probably should not be moved. To move the grips, you can also try inserting a screwdriver between the grip and bar. Spray wd-40 with a straw attached into the gap. Work the screwdriver around the bar. The grip will slide right off.
