EGR Valve
4.2L, 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L Engines
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the vacuum hose from the EGR valve.
3. On the 4.6L engine, remove the nut and brake booster bracket.
4. On the 5.4L engine, remove the DPFE sensor retaining nuts and place the sensor to the side to allow access to the EGR tube.
5. Disconnect the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube from the EGR valve.
6. Remove the EGR valve mounting bolts, then separate the valve from the intake manifold.
7. Remove and discard the old EGR valve gasket, and clean the gasket mating surfaces on the valve and the intake manifold.
To Install:
8. Install the EGR valve, along with a new gasket, on the manifold, then install and tighten the mounting bolts.
9. Connect the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube to the valve, then tighten the tube nut to 25-35 lbs. (34-47 Nm).
10. Connect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve.
11. On the 5.7L engine, install the DPFE sensor.
12. On the 4.6L engine install the brake booster bracket and the retaining nut.
13. Connect the negative battery cable.
As far as I can tell, there is no EGR valve on 1993 Ford Aerostar 3.0L engines. I have searched and found none and the vacuum hose routing decal in the engine compartment does not show an EGR valve.
How do you replace the EGR Valve on a 2001 Ford Escape?
it doesnt have one
I have repaired my vehicles for over 40 years, the engineers at ford have finally hidden a part from me, I have been looking for 3 weeks I cant find the EGR VALVE on the 94 3.0 liter aerostar.
My 4.0 awd aerostar does not have an egr. If you have pinging, and done all the usual tune up stuff, try putting in spark plugs from the 3.0 engine. the different reach range cured my pinging!
just unbolt the valve
At least some Aerostars (like the 1990 3 liter) do not have an EGR valve, they use a 3 way catalytic converter.
It probably doesn't have one. If you don't see it stuck on the driver's side of the throttle body, that one came EGR valve-less.
location and replacement of pcv valve and egr valve on 2005 Ford Taurus se
This issue is typically caused by a broken or jammed EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve). To remedy the problem, you must remove the old EGR valve and replace it. Attached is an Article from AutoZone on how to determine if it is the EGR valve and how to replace the EGR on a Generation 3 (1996-1999) Ford Taurus, It will also determine if your problem lays in other EGR components.
