If you have a V6 you will have to remove or lift the intake manifold far enough up to access the rear bank of cylinders. You can get to the front bank with no problem. Disconnect the connector attached to the coil pack and the bolt that holds it in place. The bolts in the manifold and the coil is an 8mm.
After removing the connector and bolt for the coil pact, lift the coil straight out. Replacement is the reverse but when you replace the coil pack back in place, make sure you seat the coil pack firmly and correctly in place so the plug wire seats properly.
I just got quoted $1,200 for 6 coils & plugs on the 2005 Escape. Ugh.
Should be about 4-6 bolts holding the coils down to the ignition module, unscrew them bolts and then pull the coils up from ignition module, but disconnect your ground to your battery first and with precise placement, the plug wires as well
There are six (6) ignition coils and six (6) spark plugs for a V8 3.5 liter engine.
There is an ignition coil connected to the top of each spark plug...so if you have a 6 cylinder motor, you have 6 plugs and 6 coils.
a Mazda millenia with a miller cycl engine 2.3 engine has 6 igition coils
The 3.0 litre V6 engine in a Lincoln LS has ( 6 ignition coils ) with the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system
The 2003 Lexus IS300 uses a 2JZ-GE inline-6 Toyota engine, and has 6 ignition coils (coil on plug).
6
The Lincoln LS , 3.0 liter V6 engine has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P.) ignition system so there are ( 6 individual ignition coils )
The ignition module is right underneath the ignition coils. The ignition coils are what the spark plugs attach to. My alro was riding really rough so i just changed my coils and module for $200 and it runs like new. All you do is unplug the wires, unscrew the coils(6 bolts) and there is your module. :) Hope this helps!!
The 2007 Ford Edge , 3.5 liter V6 engine has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P.) ignition system so there are ( 6 individual ignition coils )
Replacing ignition coils will not guarantee that your misfiring codes will disappear nor that it will solve the problem. I had the same problem in my 2000 CE and so far, after replacing spark plugs, wires, coils and testing the fuel injectors haven't been able to fix the problem. However if you want to replace the coils it is rather simple. It has 3 coils located on top in front of the engine. Detach the wires and unscrew the bolts and you should be able to pull them out and replace them in the same way.
