There is a screw located in the side of the door above where the locking component is and there is another one under the middle cover in the handle This holds the whole handle assembly in place. Remove these screws (it should be a large Philips head and a small one at the front part) and try removing the handle. removal of the door panel is not necessary no rods connect it to the inner handle and stuff.
