Ok start by removing the headlight knob. Find the small slot it somewhere near the base of the knob, using a flat tip screw-driver put the tip of the screw-driver into that slot and pull the small spring clip in-side the knob towards the drivers-seat at the same time pulling the knob off. Once that is off remove the washer knob in the same manner. Once those are off remove the three screws at the top of the dash-board (just under the lip) this will allow you to remove the cluster trim and give you acess to the light switch.Sometines you got to gently pull on the hard plastic of the cluster trim to get ot off. You can then slid it up on the steering collum and once it is free it WILL slip off the collum just twist gently and pull to one side. Now...reach your left hand into the hole on the left-hand side of the dash-board, right above the light switch and un-clip the harness from the switch. Now you can take a wrench or if you are good a pair of pliers and un-screw the keeper nut holding the switch to the dash. It is located right at the base of the arm it-self. Now...push the switch assembly out of the dash and it will fall out right under where you were working. the instalation in the opposite of removal. If you have some slack in your wireing harness you could remove the switch before having to unclip the harness and than pull it out to the bottome of the dash and unclip it there.

Take a small blade pocket screwdriver and slightly insert it between the dash and the switch. It should pry out and you will be able to get to the wiring to remove the old switch and replace the new.

pull your light switch out and use a small screw driver to push clip and remove the plastic tip on the head light switch then remove the black trim around the gauge cluster
To the right of your headlight switch is a dimmer switch for your gauge cluster lighting - I'm not sure if it's the same on your F150 as my Explorer but when my dimmer switch is rotated all the way up it turns on my interior lights . Also if you have a door ajar light lit up in your gauge cluster , you probably have a sticking door ajar switch
I have the same problem. You can't seem to take it off from the outside. All I was told is that you have to unscrew it from the inside somehow.
