if its anything like the 98 1.6 remove the spark plug wires using a deep well socket (don't remember the size sorry) short extension and ratchet and turn counter clockwise and you can get a long tool under $10 were you push on the button on one end and fingers come out the other end great for reaching in tight places to get small parts and use this to get the plugs out then gap new plugs (use NGK type) and install and replace plug wires....at this time should check the dist cap & rotor if bad go to an O'reilly's parts store and get the cap & rotor as when I purchased mine they told me its lifetime warranty so every 25000 miles take the cap & rotor in and get a new one...... Replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, spark plug rotor & distributor, put in new air filter & change the fuel filter.
You will need a general screwdriver, a spark plug socket, a socket wrench and and extender, a wire brush and a silicone dielectric compound. You should find more of these tools at SEARS or your favorite car parts dealer. You will need a spark plug wrench with an extension to replace the spark plugs in a 1998 Nissan Sentra. Depends on the year. On any Sentra made in the last 10 years change the spark plugs every 100,000 miles unless you have a misfire. In that case change them immediately. On an older Sentra change them every 75,000 miles.
When replacing spark plugs on a Nissan Maxima 1995 remove the spark plug covers by twisting until they come loose. Use a socket and wrench to turn the spark plug to the left until it is released from the vehicle. Repeat for all spark plugs. Screw the new spark plugs into the vehicle and replace the spark plug covers.
