How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1996 Nissan Maxima?

I'm going from memory but in the center of the engine near the front you will see a large black rubber tube going into the top of the engine. Under those screws that attach the black tube to the engine you will have the thermostat, make sure to use the gasket. I traded in my 96 so I apologize if this is wrong.
