How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1999 Ford Ranger?
locate the top radiator hose and follow it to the motor, unbolt the housing it is connected to and remove the old thermostat replace it and put it back together
To replace the thermostat, follow the return hose from the radiator to the black plastic encasement which witholds the thermostat. It is pretty tricky to unbolt it from the engine (there are two bolts, one visible and the other is underneath the plastic piece) but that is where the thermostat is located. Good luck
The thermostat is located at the driver side of the engine, under the air intake piping. All the intake stuff must be removed to get to the housing which has two bolts holding it in place. The lower bolt, located under the exhaust pipe, is a Bear to get at! Replace with an OEM part, as SOME of the generic parts won't allow you to get the housing back on without removing the exhaust.
Replacing a thermostat on a 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass is very easy to do. First you will find the thermostat by following the upper radiator hose. It is under the exhaust crossover. The thermostat has two 13 mm bolts holding it in place. Take the bolts off to remove the thermostat and replace with a new one.
For a 2.4 litre engine, where the pressure cap is that is the thermostat housing..if you try to remove the pressure cap (in cold temperature only) you will see the thermostat..A damaged thermostat can be diagnosed when an engine running is at above normal temperature by squeezing the radiator hose connected to the thermostat housing..if there is no coolant running in it the thermostat is close then replace it.
Should be located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator Remove this housing Note how thermostat is installed Clean both surfaces Replace thermostat and gasket Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an airlock Start engine and look for leaks Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on Re-check coolant level In my 1999 Nissan Altima the thermostat is located on…
