How do you replace the wheel studs on a Ford Windstar?

The wheel studs are pressed into the hub/wheel bearing assembly.

Two choices here:

• Take it to a shop, maybe a well equipped tire shop and see if they can press out the old stud and press a new one in.
  They may be able to figure out a way to do it while the hub is still on the vehicle
  
  
• Replace the assembly and get new bearings and all new studs as part of the package.

For reference, 1999-2003 wheel bearing/hubs price $57-85

For what it is worth, my recommendation is to not mess with replacing just a stud - have the bearing/hub assembly replaced - especially if you have many miles on the vehicle.

Replacing these on a 1998-2003 isn't the easiest job - pretty ambitious for a novice backyard mechanic, but certainly doable. I score the 1998-2003 at 6 or 7 on a 10 scale for difficulty. 1995-1997 goes up because the manual says the bearings have to be pressed, which makes the job a bit more involved (remove the steering knuckle)

Well worthwhile to get priced at a repair shop, especially going into the cold season.
