I'm virtually certain that there are no FREE on-line repair manual sites. The description of this job runs to three pages of type and illustrations - none of which can be reproduced or quoted here due to copyright laws. Therefore I can only suggest that the questioner check with his local library or local auto parts stores for a copy of of the commercially available manuals (Chilton - Haynes - etc).
does the honda crv 2008 timing belt or chain
From 2002 HONDA replaced timing belt with chains ...so no more timing belt hassle.
The 2006 Honda CR-V 2.4 L engine does not have a timing belt.
It has a chain.
You don't as the 2004 Honda CRV uses a timing chain and not a belt. It should last the life of the engine.
YES it has a timing belt.
The 2008 Honda CRV has a cam (timing) chain the normally requires no maintenance.
2013 Honda CRV has a timing chain that requires no maintenance.
2002 CR-V does NOT have a belt. Starting with the '02 model year and after they are equipped with chains.
2012 Honda CRV has a timing chain.
Chain
The 1997-2001 Honda CRV with the 2.0L 4 cylinder uses a timing belt. 2002-up use a chain. The water pump is also driven by the cam belt. To save yourself money later on, replace the water pump at the same time as you replace the belt. The belt MUST be replaced at 105,000 miles or 10 years. Failure to replace the belt may result in severe engine damage as this is an interference engine.
