This is s a great question and a perfect opportunity for you to really sell yourself. I would advise that you talk positively about yourself but making it relevant to the job you are applying for.

I would also suggest just briefly going back 5 years but focussing on your most recent experience.

It is also an opportunity to promote what you are really good at but never mention what you are not so good at or what qualifications/experience you do not have.

There is an article attached to this that may help you.

Start by discussing your name, qualifications, work experience,s and hobbies.

A common question is "tell me about yourself" which is what your self introduction is all about.

You need to change this depending on who's asked the question and give an answer that is relevant to them and their needs.

The interviewer does not want to know about your personal life beyond name and interests. Give a short introduction about yourself; speak about your educational background, previous job positions you have held, brief introductions about your accomplishments etc. Speak at length about yourself covering all the major points briefly.

Here is a short example:

Thank you giving me an opportunity to talk about myself. My name is Elizabeth Browne. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I recently graduated from the University of Miami with an English degree and now I am looking to ender the world of publishing. This position seems like a wonderful opportunity to begin my career in this industry.

When answering the question, 'please tell me about yourself', the employer is looking for a brief explanation of your work goals and achievements. Outline why you feel you would be a good candidate for the position, how your skills will be useful, and what achievements you reached at previous positions.
