In french it looks something like "bat qui volent".

You pronounce it like: Bat-ki-vunt

Voler - (but you have to careful when and how you use this verb as it also can mean 'to steal' - to indicate you mean 'voler' - to fly - we say 'pigeon vole' - a pigeon flies).

To fly - as in travelling in an aeroplane, we would say - prendre l'avion/un avion (the plane does the flying for us - we just take our seat). 'Un vol' means a flight (but there again, it can mean theft).
