In Japanese -
Home is translated as Uchi (うち) OR Ie (いえ)
[must not be confused with いいえ, which means 'no']
The Kanji for both the above pronunciations is the same - 家
In English (in a Japanese accent) -
Home would be said as homu (ホム)
However most Japanese would try to suppress the u part of 'mu'. Thereby making it sound a bit similar to 'houm'
If you are just now getting home and want to tell your family that you're home, you would say ãŸã ã„ã¾ (tadaima). However, if you're letting someone know where you are, you would say 家ã«ã„ã¾ã™ (ie ni imasu).
ãŸã ã„ã¾ - I'm home; I'm back
家ã«ã„ã¾ã™ - I'm home; I'm at home
ただいま /ta dai ma/ means 'I am home, I am back'.
