arándano is really just the generic spanish word meaning "berry". dictionaries citing it as the word for blueberry are incorrect or poorly researched, eg "arándano agrio" is cranberry (arándano itself just being the "berry" part). certainly, in Colombia, Ecuador and the paises andinos, the blueberry is a mortiño. there may be a different word in Spain. references to "arándano azul" are closer, but in fact just a lazy, literal translation of "berry" and "blue".

Although the answer above is pretty accurate is a bit confusing. To make it simple:

- If you go to the store you will find cranberry juice labeled as "jugo de arándano"

- In the Andean region, there are no blueberries like the ones available in the US. So if you go to the store, you will find mortiño products labeled as "Andean blueberry" in their English translation.

Those commercial definitions work well for everyone around here in Latin America. FYI, I am based in Ecuador at the moment.

In Argentina we say: "torta de frutillas".

"Pastel de fresa" is also accepted.

En Mexico, genralmente decimos "Pastel de Fresa".

Another answer: "Tarta de fresa" means strawberry cake in Spanish.

Yet another answer: Bizcocho de fresas - this would be more like a sponge cake with whole or sliced strawberries baked or on the cake.
