Tin = Sn

Carbon = C

Tin would react with acids, carbon would be more resistant,

using hydrochloric acid:

HCl + Sn ---> SnCl2

C + HCl ---> no reaction unless very strong.

Carbon is also insoluble.

SnCl2 can then be electrolyzed.

OR

Easier way:

Apply heat to your mixture of tin and carbon in the presence of Oxygen.

Tin + oxygen --> quite resistant, minimum reaction

Carbon + Oxygen --> CO2, you'll get gas, which you might / might not want to collect, i.e., if you want to collect tin only and don't mind losing carbon, this method is better, the first method collects both.

You can burn the mixture at 210 degrees Celsius. Since carbon has a much higher melting point than tin, you can easily remove the carbon from the tin once the tin is a liquid.
