i suggest you look under the hood,an see ifit has a data sticker,that say's there's no timimg reguired.the 2002 i know has a timing sensor,which change's the timing atomatically.

Timing chains are designed to last the life of the engine and are normally replaced during a complete engine rebuild.

This info can be found in the owner's manual. no timing belt is a chain and u dont need to replace it unless there is something worng with it, but not a maintance issue

I have a 2000 Suzuki Vitara not a Grand Vitara but it probably is the same. My boyfried figured it out so I wont take credit for this. It is located in front of the gas tank on the passenger side of the car. Stange how these cars can confuse even the greatest of men.
