Remove the vacuum hose at the distributor and plug it temporarily.
Attach timing light and turn distributor as needed to set to factory specs or 8 degrees BTDC.
Reattach vacuum line.
The 1972 Chevy 350 has about 270 horsepower stock. This engine can be modified to put out up to about 800 horsepower.
Knowing the year would really help. But 90% of the 350 TBI engine timing was 0 TDC.

If this is a stock engine try anywhere from 4 to 8 degrees advanced.
A general number for timing is around 10 but that can change based on the engine setup. The idle speed also depends on the set up but its about 900-1000 and 700-800 in gear with a stock engine.
It can be anywhere from 4 - 13 degrees.. depending on what type of cam you got and ect.. For a stock 350.. Timing is commonly around 12 - 13 degrees.
If its a 350 engine with a 4 barrel it will be 255hp at 5600 RPMs
