1. Turn off windows firewall and all other firewalls from both computers.

2. Go to Control panel->Network setup wizard. Fill in the information for both computers. When it asks for a workgroup put in "GAMING" for both computers. When this is completed it will ask you to restart the computer. Restart them real fast.

3. Once restarted go to Control panel->Network connetions. Right click on local area network and go down to properties. Scroll down in the items this connection uses box to Internet protocol (TCP/IP). Click on that and click on the properties button. In the next dialouge box check the button that says use the following ip address. For the computer that is going to host the game set the ip as 192.168.0.1 and the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. The other computer now sets his ip as 192.168.0.2 and his subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.

4. Start starcraft and go into multiplayer.

5. Click Local area network (UDP).

6. The host machine with the ip of 192.168.0.1 creates a match.

7. Once the match shows up in the match list click join.

8. Have fun playing starcraft over LAN!

User Avatar

no, A LAN is a network between a small amount of computers through a router , hub or switch

User Avatar

Yes- A router which has more than one ethernet socket (usually marked "LAN"), where your computers plug in has a built-in "hub" or "switch" function which allows all the devices plugged in to communicate between them. Thus two computers plugged into the same router will be able to communicate with each other even if the Internet connection (which comes through the actual router and is also connected to the internal hub) is not plugged in or active. This will allow "file sharing" between the two computers with Windows, and also will allow the computers to play LAN games.

You can have thousands of computers in a LAN, but for efficiency, and administrative purposes, a large LAN is usually divided into subnets, that are interconnected among themselves.

User Avatar

All devices on a LAN are called nodes.

LAN is a collection of computers with in certain distance say, a building or premises or within a city. A LAN can be a collection of wired computers or wireless computers or mixed. A wireless connection is a connection which uses radio frequencies to send and receive data, e.g. a mobile phone is an application based on wireless connection.

Buy a lan router, they can be used with lan cable or wireless to connect all your computers through a network. If there are only two computers that you wish to connect then you only need on lan cable which you connect in the back of each of those two computers to create a network.

User Avatar

You know what a LAN is. Its a small group of computers all hooked up together. These computers are all hooked together by wires. And its the LAN card (nic as its more commonly known) that the wire plugs into in the computer.

User Avatar

You most likely mean "LANs". LAN stands for Local Area Network. A LAN establishes communication between two or more computers at a "location". A location could be a business or a home but is normally a single geographic location. The protocols in the LAN will be designed to allow the computers at the location to communicate, but basically ignore requests to communicate with other computers outside the 'location'. A counterpart to the LAN is the Wide Area Network or WAN. A wide area network will join two or more LANs together.

It is useful for sharing and networking for local computers.

User Avatar

Local Area Network (LAN) allows two or more computers to access the internet through a single router and, by creating a shared folder/directory, to share data between any computer connected to the LAN.

Internet is the communication of multiple computers over a network Ethernet is a system to connect these computers together to work over a WAN or LAN WAN being the internet.

User Avatar

Well, LAN means multiple computers are wired to a router that connects to the internet. So, you would need to place the computers so the Ethernet cord can be connected to the router
