Human remains are to be transported in the most dignified and respectful manner possible. They will be covered with certain materials to both conceal the remains and to prevent contamination to the person transporting. Depending on where the person died, the remains will be transported using various types of carts. In the hospital, the cart is usually a special mortuary cart that has a piece of material that covers the cart to make it look like an empty, draped table. The mortuary/funeral home will use one of their mortuary cots, which looks similar to an ambulance cot but with much thinner cushion.

Human remains may also be transported in certain containers ranging from a cremation container to a casket. The cremation container can be a simple cardboard box with a lid on it, or a lightweight casket designed for cremation. The body could be transported in what is known as an air tray or combo box. An air tray is a container that is used to ship casketed remains, while a combo box is a combination of an air tray and casket, used to ship a body without a casket.

Finally, you may have heard of container known as a combination casket and vault, which is used to contain the body and then to bury it without requiring a separate vault for the gravesite.

The body may be transported in any type of vehicle ranging from a station wagon built for that purpose (called removal car or vehicle, which looks like a station wagon but with Landau bars on both sides like a hearse), a van, or a hearse.

First, call a funeral home you are comfortable with. They will get you a death certificate from a doctor in case the deceased person died of an illness. The same funeral home will contact the embassy or consulate of the country you want to send the body to. they have to get a few documents from them and find out if embalming is needed or not depending on the country/airline. After getting all the documents: passport, death certificate, birth certificate, ID, etc, the funeral home books a space with an airline company going to the country of destination, and they transport the body to the airport. I hope this will help. I didn't mention price because it all depends on the funeral home charges, transportation from home to funeral home, refrigeration, airline, distance, etc.
